This website is brought to you by The Epigenome Network of Excellence, a european research network dedicated to supporting high calibre science in the rapidly expanding field of epigenetics
The Epigenome NoE is coordinated by Thomas Jenuwein with support from Geneviève Almouzni and Phil Avner. The remaining members (Permanent, Associate and NET) are spread across 10 European countries. NoEs are a new FP6 funding instrument introduced to strengthen scientific excellence by integrating the critical mass of resources and expertise within Europe to further advances in a particular research topic.
Young scientists frequently face problems securing research grants in competition with more established teams. The Epigenome NoE is challenging this convention by funding young research leaders or Newly Established Teams (NETs). 12 NET members were appointed in September 2004. Each NET will obtain €150 000 during their 3-year network affiliation, which accounts for around one third of NoE funds. The NoE is currently undergoing the second round of NET selection.
